AFP - Tens of thousands marched in the 16th edition of Vienna's colourful Gay Pride parade Saturday braving rain to call for an end discrimination.
"We are nearly 100,000, we're pleasantly surprised," Christian Hoegl of the Homosexual Initiative, the Austrian capital's main gay rights group, told AFP.
Police did not give an attendance figure.
Participants sported fancy outfits which have become a fixture of gay rights marches, with many male and female marchers showing up topless.
On the centenary of International Women's Day the march also highlighted women's and lesbians' rights.
The so-called Rainbow parade was to wind up in the evening at Vienna city hall with speeches and concerts.
